Inclusion in the Creative Industries for Minority Groups

The Cultural and Creative Industries employ nearly two million people in the U.K - making it one of the fastest growing sectors in the country. However, women, the disabled and the BME (black and minority ethnic) community aren’t reflected fairly in the employment, ownership, company formation and wealth distribution of these industries.

It’s a fact that diverse organisations out-perform homogenous ones. For creative businesses to remain competitive, it is essential that they embrace diversity in all its forms, including better representation of minority groups at every level.

The i-Create website aims to address the current situation by providing a unique directory of talented creatives from different cultural industries. The site will help employers diversify their workforce and increase the number of BME, disabled and women professionals working in the industry. This will overcome the obstacles that employers have in finding talent, leading to a more representative workforce.
