RTS North East and the Border Centre is currently calling for entries to its 2008 awards.

Film, TV and new media practitioners have until 31st October to submit their work to this highly regarded competition which celebrates and acknowledges the achievements of professionals and students working in the region’s media industries.

There are 11 award categories plus a student award:

Production Categories:
All elements of the complete production are considered, including script content and originality.
Cat 1: Best Factual Programme (2 awards)
Cat 2: Best Drama or Entertainment Programme (2 awards)
Cat 3: Best Production for a Niche or Target Audience
Cat 4: Best Promotion or Commercial
Cat 5: Best New Media Production

Portfolio Categories:
Categories that celebrate individual professional expertise in a range of disciplines. Groups or partnerships may not enter. The Judges’ criteria are listed within each category page of the brochure.
Cat 6: Best News Coverage
Cat 7: Best Moving Image Journalist
Cat 8: Best Presenter
Cat 9: Professional Entrance (Craft) (2 awards)

Special Categories:
Varied categories for companies and individuals who satisfy certain specific criteria and show a variety and longevity of expertise.
Cat 10: RTS Company of the Year
Cat 11: The Centre Award

Student Awards (Factual, Non-Factual and Animation):
These awards are judged regionally as part of the national event, and entries are dealt with centrally.

Please note an amendment to the brochure is that four DVD copies of each entry are required, along with five copies of the entry form.
